A trip to Göygöl
Lake Göygöl is in western Azerbaijan, near Ganja — the country's second-largest city. From Baku you can reach Ganja by car, train or plane, and from there go up into the mountains towards the national park.
The lake lies within a protected area, so visits are arranged according to the rules of the national park. It is best to check the conditions and entry arrangements in advance.
The best time to travel is from late spring to golden autumn, when the roads are open and the water and forests are especially beautiful. A trip to Göygöl is easy to combine with a visit to the historic city of Ganja.
